Refrigerated Courier Brisbane — Chilled and Frozen Small Loads by Van and Small Truck
Small chilled and frozen loads, from a few cartons to about four pallets, carried across Brisbane and South East Queensland in refrigerated vans and small trucks.
A refrigerated courier is the right size when you have a small chilled or frozen load, anything from a few cartons to about four pallets, that has to stay at temperature from your door to your customer’s. We carry those loads across Brisbane and South East Queensland in refrigerated vans and small trucks, and we read and record the product temperature at pickup and at delivery.
Most of this work is for food businesses: a butcher sending orders to restaurants, a caterer delivering to a venue, a small manufacturer supplying a handful of shops. The load is too small to justify a big truck and too sensitive for an ordinary courier van.
What size loads a refrigerated courier carries
| Vehicle | Typical capacity | Temperature range | Access |
|---|---|---|---|
| Refrigerated van | 1 pallet equivalent, up to 1 tonne | −20°C to +8°C | Rear barn doors, kerbside friendly |
| Small refrigerated truck | 2–4 pallets | −20°C to +8°C | Tailgate available, narrow-street capable |
Loose cartons, crates and eskies travel on the floor of the van. Palletised freight is counted on the standard 1165 × 1165 mm Australian pallet. Height and weight both limit a load, so a tall or heavy pallet can push a job from the van to the small truck.
If you are not sure which vehicle you need, our guide to what size refrigerated truck you need walks through it. The full range, up to semi-trailers, is on the fleet page.
Chilled and frozen temperatures we can hold
Vans and small trucks hold a set point anywhere from −20°C to +8°C. Chilled food typically travels at 0°C to +5°C. Frozen food travels at −18°C or colder.
Under the Food Standards Code, potentially hazardous chilled food must be kept at 5°C or below in transport, and frozen food must stay frozen. The −18°C figure is industry guidance, not a number in the Code. The product owner sets the limit for their product, so give us your specification and we will set the vehicle to it.
Areas our Brisbane refrigerated courier covers
We run courier-sized loads across Brisbane metro, including inner-city sites where a small vehicle is the only practical option. The van and small truck suit kerbside drops, laneways and shopfronts without a dock.
Beyond the city we cover the Gold Coast, the Sunshine Coast, Ipswich, Logan and Toowoomba. Tell us both suburbs when you enquire and we will confirm the run.
How to book a refrigerated courier
- Send the details through the contact page, or phone us between 8am and 8pm, any day of the week.
- Get a quote. The price depends on the distance, the vehicle, the number of drops and the timing, so we quote each job instead of publishing a rate card.
- Confirm the booking with the pickup time and any delivery window the receiver has set.
- We pre-cool the vehicle to your set point before it arrives.
- Load, deliver and sign off. Dispatch sends SMS or email updates at pickup, in transit and at delivery.
If the job is for today, phone instead of using the form. Same-day runs depend on a vehicle being free, and a call gets you an answer faster. Our urgent refrigerated transport page explains how that works.
What to have ready before you call
- Pickup and delivery addresses, with a contact name and phone number at each end.
- What the product is and whether it is chilled or frozen.
- The temperature specification, if the product owner has set one.
- The load size — number of cartons or pallets, with rough dimensions and weight.
- Timing — when the load is ready and when the receiver can take it.
- Site access — dock, kerbside, stairs, lifts, height limits or loading zone rules.
- Number of drops, if the load is going to more than one address.
The more of this we have at the start, the fewer phone calls on the day. Our booking guide covers each item in more detail.
Temperature records and delivery updates
We read product temperature with a calibrated probe at pickup and again at delivery. Both readings are recorded and kept on file. Ask for them with your proof of delivery and we will send them.
Your receiver may check as well. The Food Standards Code expects chilled potentially hazardous food to arrive at 5°C or below, and frozen food to arrive frozen hard. A recorded reading at each end gives both sides something to rely on.
Updates come from dispatch by SMS or email. We do not offer a live map of the vehicle. Our handling routines are HACCP-aligned. If your customer needs specific documents, ask us what we currently hold before you book, as you should with any carrier.
When your load is bigger than a courier run
Once a load passes four pallets it moves to a medium truck, which typically carries 6–10. If you have chilled and frozen lines on the same order, ask about multi-temperature transport, which keeps the two in separate zones.
Q01
ServiceHow much does a refrigerated courier cost in Brisbane?
There is no flat rate, because the price depends on the distance, the vehicle needed, the number of drops and how soon the job has to run. Send us the suburbs, load size and temperature and we will quote the job. Quotes come back within 24 hours, often the same day for routine routes.
Q02
ServiceWhat is the smallest load a refrigerated courier will take?
A few cartons is fine. The refrigerated van carries anything up to one pallet equivalent or one tonne, so a small order still travels in a temperature-controlled space. Tell us the carton count and rough weight when you enquire so we can confirm the van is the right vehicle for it.
Q03
ServiceCan a refrigerated courier deliver frozen food as well as chilled?
Yes. Our vans and small trucks hold a set point from −20°C to +8°C, which covers frozen food at −18°C or colder and chilled food at 0°C to +5°C. A single-zone vehicle holds one temperature at a time, so ask about a multi-temperature vehicle if your order has both.
Q04
ServiceCan I get a refrigerated courier in Brisbane on the same day?
Sometimes. Same-day runs depend on a vehicle being available and on how early in the day you call. Phone us instead of using the quote form so dispatch can check straight away. Our phones are answered from 8am to 8pm, seven days a week.
Q05
ServiceDo you deliver to cafes and restaurants without a loading dock?
Yes. The refrigerated van has rear barn doors and suits kerbside delivery, and the small truck is narrow-street capable with a tailgate available. Tell us about the site when you book, including loading zones, stairs, lifts and delivery hours, so the driver arrives with the right vehicle and plan.
