Frozen Goods Delivery Brisbane — Frozen Food Transport Across Queensland

Frozen meat, seafood, ready meals and ice cream carried at −18°C or colder across Brisbane and Queensland, in pre-cooled vehicles from a one-pallet van to a semi-trailer.

We deliver frozen food across Brisbane and Queensland at −18°C or colder, in vehicles that range from a one-pallet refrigerated van to a 22–24 pallet semi-trailer. Every vehicle is pre-cooled before loading, and the product temperature is read with a calibrated probe and recorded at pickup and again at delivery.

The freight is mostly frozen meat and poultry, seafood, ready meals, frozen vegetables, processed frozen foods and ice cream. It moves between manufacturers, cold stores, wholesalers, retailers and commercial kitchens.

What temperature frozen food is transported at

The Food Standards Code says food that is intended to be frozen must stay frozen during transport. It does not put a number on it. The −18°C figure comes from the Australian Cold Chain Guidelines, an industry guide, and it is the limit most product owners and receivers work to.

Frozen temperature limits: what is law and what is guidance

Our vans and small trucks hold down to −20°C, and our medium trucks, large trucks and semi-trailers hold down to −25°C. Tell us your specification and we will match the vehicle to it. For more on the numbers, see our guide to chilled and frozen transport temperatures.

How we keep a frozen load frozen

A frozen load is lost at the doors, not on the highway. Most of our routine is about the minutes when product is exposed.

  • Pre-cooled vehicles. The body is brought down to temperature before the first pallet goes in.
  • Product loaded frozen. A truck holds temperature. It is not built to pull warm product down, so stock stays in your freezer until we are ready to load.
  • Short staging. Pallets go from freezer to truck without waiting on a warm dock.
  • Door discipline. Doors are opened as few times as possible and closed between drops.
  • Airflow. Pallets are loaded so cold air can move around them and nothing sits above the load line.
  • Probe checks. Readings are taken at pickup and delivery, recorded and kept on file.

Frozen delivery vehicles, from one pallet to a full load

The load decides the vehicle. As a guide, on standard 1165 × 1165 mm pallets:

  • Refrigerated van — 1 pallet equivalent, up to 1 tonne. Urgent metro runs and small frozen orders.
  • Small truck — 2–4 pallets. Urban multi-drop and retail replenishment.
  • Medium truck — 6–10 pallets. Distribution runs and regional freight.
  • Large truck — 12–14 pallets. Higher-volume metro and linehaul.
  • Semi-trailer — 22–24 pallets. Full loads across Queensland and interstate.

Frozen food usually cannot be double-stacked, and refrigerated bodies are heavier than dry ones, so weight can limit a load before floor space does. Specifications for each class are on the fleet page. If you only have a few pallets, read how part-load refrigerated freight works.

Frozen delivery areas in Brisbane and Queensland

Metro frozen delivery covers Brisbane, Logan, Ipswich, the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast. These are often multi-drop runs, where the number of door openings matters as much as the distance.

We also run frozen linehaul to Toowoomba and regional Queensland on planned services, and interstate to New South Wales and Victoria on request. Long runs take more than one driving shift because of driver work and rest limits, so ask us about timing when you request a quote.

What your receiver will check on arrival

Under the Food Standards Code, a food business should accept frozen food only if it is frozen hard. A receiver who finds soft or partly thawed product is entitled to refuse it.

Good receivers probe a sample, and record the time and temperature. We do the same, so there are two sets of readings for one delivery. Ask for ours with your proof of delivery. Our handling routines are HACCP-aligned. If your customer requires particular documents from a carrier, ask us what we currently hold before you book.

Mixed orders with chilled and frozen lines

A single-zone vehicle holds one temperature. If an order has chilled and frozen lines, the two either travel on separate vehicles or on a multi-temperature vehicle, which keeps them in separate zones behind a movable bulkhead. Tell us the split and we will work out which is cheaper for your run.

Getting a frozen transport quote

We quote each job, because the price depends on distance, vehicle, number of drops and timing. Send the pickup and delivery suburbs, pallet count with heights and weights, the product, the temperature specification and any delivery booking. The contact page has the form, or phone between 8am and 8pm any day.

  1. Q01
    Service

What temperature should frozen food be transported at in Australia?

The Food Standards Code requires frozen food to remain frozen during transport but does not set a number. Industry guidance is never warmer than −18°C, with ice cream preferably at −22°C or colder. Your product specification decides the set point, so give it to your carrier before the vehicle is booked.

  2. Q02
    Service

Can you deliver a single pallet of frozen food in Brisbane?

Yes. A refrigerated van carries one pallet equivalent, up to a tonne, and holds down to −20°C. A single pallet can also travel as a part load on a larger vehicle with other frozen freight. Send the pallet height, weight and both suburbs and we will tell you which way suits.

  3. Q03
    Service

    Do you transport ice cream?

Yes, ice cream is among the frozen freight we carry. It is less forgiving than other frozen food, so tell us the specification when you enquire. Our larger trucks hold down to −25°C. Have it staged so it loads straight from your freezer, because heat-shock damage cannot be undone.

  4. Q04
    Coverage

How much does frozen food transport cost in Queensland?

It depends on the distance, the vehicle size, the number of drops and how much notice we have, so we quote each job and do not publish a rate card. Send the pallet count, suburbs and temperature and we reply within 24 hours, often the same day for routine routes.

  5. Q05
    Service

Can frozen and chilled food go on the same truck?

Only on a multi-temperature vehicle, which uses a movable bulkhead to hold a frozen zone and a chilled zone at the same time. On a standard single-zone truck everything travels at one set point. Tell us how many pallets are frozen and how many are chilled so the zones can be planned.
