Refrigerated Transport Sunshine Coast — Cold Freight for Producers, Kitchens and Retailers
The Sunshine Coast sends cold freight out as well as taking it in. We run chilled, frozen and fresh loads on the Bruce Highway for local producers, coastal venues and retailers from Caloundra to Noosa.
We run refrigerated freight between Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast on the Bruce Highway, in both directions. That second part matters here more than in most places: the Coast has its own seafood, dairy and food manufacturing, so a good share of the work is collecting from local producers as well as delivering to venues and shops.
Producers as well as plates: who ships cold on the Coast
Mooloolaba is home to a fishing fleet, and seafood is one of the most temperature-sensitive loads there is. In the hinterland, Maleny is known for dairy, and the country around Montville and Eumundi supports a strong scene of small food and beverage makers. Yandina has food manufacturing, with further industrial areas at Kunda Park and Forest Glen.
On the receiving side are the restaurants, cafes, resorts and retailers of Noosa, Noosaville, Mooloolaba, Maroochydore, Kawana and Caloundra. Like any tourist region, their orders rise in holiday periods.
The Bruce Highway run north
The Bruce Highway is the one main road between Brisbane and the Coast, and it slows at peak hour and on holiday weekends. We do not give transit-time guarantees on it. Give us the receiving window and we will plan the pickup time backwards from that.
The Coast is also long and spread out. Caloundra and Noosa sit at opposite ends, and Maleny and Montville are up on the range behind them. A load with drops in several of these places is a multi-stop run, and the order of the stops affects both cost and how long the last receiver waits.
Vehicle choice from Noosa’s main streets to Kunda Park
| Job | Vehicle that typically suits |
|---|---|
| A cafe or restaurant in Noosa Heads, Mooloolaba or Maroochydore | Refrigerated van — 1 pallet equivalent, up to 1 tonne |
| A hinterland producer sending a few pallets to Brisbane | Small truck — 2–4 pallets |
| A manufacturer or wholesaler at Yandina, Kunda Park or Forest Glen | Medium truck (6–10 pallets) or large truck (12–14 pallets) |
| A full load in or out of a Coast distribution site | Semi-trailer — 22–24 pallets |
| Chilled and frozen lines for the same run | Multi-temperature vehicle with split zones |
Busy beachside streets and farm driveways both favour smaller vehicles. See the fleet page for the full range, and tell us about any gate, driveway or street access limits at either end.
Seafood, dairy and mixed loads: temperature notes
Seafood and dairy are potentially hazardous foods, which under the Food Standards Code must be transported at 5°C or below. In practice they are carried at 0–4°C, and seafood is often held closer to 0°C. The product owner sets the limits for their product, so give us your specification and we will set the vehicle to it.
Two practical points for producers. First, a refrigerated vehicle maintains temperature; it does not pull warm product down, so stock has to be at temperature before it is loaded. Second, if you ship chilled and frozen lines together, a multi-temperature vehicle keeps them in separate zones behind a movable bulkhead, with the frozen product nearest the evaporator.
Smaller makers rarely fill a truck. Our guide to part-load refrigerated pallet freight explains how sharing vehicle space works, and the fresh produce service covers fruit, vegetables and other fresh lines.
What we need to quote a Sunshine Coast load
- Pickup and delivery suburbs, and whether either end is a farm, a shopfront or a dock.
- The product, how it is packed and the temperature it must hold.
- Pallet or carton count, with weights if you have them.
- Receiving windows, and whether this is a one-off or a regular movement.
We reply within 24 hours, often the same day for routine routes. Most Coast freight connects with Brisbane, including produce bound for the markets at Rocklea.
Q01
ServiceCan you pick up seafood from Mooloolaba for delivery to Brisbane?
Mooloolaba is within the Sunshine Coast area we run refrigerated freight to and from. Send the volume, packing and required temperature and we will confirm the vehicle and timing at quote.
Q02
ServiceDo you deliver refrigerated freight to Noosa restaurants and cafes?
Yes, Noosa Heads and Noosaville are areas we run to. Venue drops there usually suit a refrigerated van or small truck, and we confirm the exact address and receiving window when we quote.
Q03
ServiceCan you collect from producers in Maleny or Montville?
Hinterland pickups are possible, subject to dispatch availability and vehicle access at the property. Contact us with the address and what you are sending so we can check a suitable vehicle can get in.
Q04
ServiceI only have one or two pallets. Is that worth booking?
Yes. A one-pallet load can travel on a refrigerated van, and a few pallets on a small truck or as a part load. What it costs depends on the route, the temperature and the timing, which is what the quote works out.
